Illustrated map for the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
This high quality attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District had a problem that potential visitors didn't seem to understand what the Attraction was and were therefore a little deterred from coming in. So the client wanted a visual way to show how visitors would go for a physical journey through Beatrix Potter's Tales, with added elements such as the Peter Rabbit Garden, an interactive display, a film and the story of Beatrix's life.
I surveyed the very complex displays in the attraction, simplified them (while still retaining a real sense of the layout of the displays) and devised this 'map' to illustrate the Attraction. So that it tied in with the theme of the Attraction, I painted it in a style similar to Beatrix Potter's own illustrations.
My map appears as a massive display in the foyer, enlarged to a width of 4m without loss of quality.
